Ansel Adams, photographer and environmentalist, was born in San Francisco the son of a businessman. He broke his nose from the great earthquake and fire of 1906, leaving his nose disfigured. He wasn’t successful in various schools eventually received a “Legitimizing diploma” from the Mrs. Kate M. Wilkins private school. The degree is equivalent to having completing eighth grade. The most important part of his childhood that relates to his photography career was the joy he found in nature.

The style consists of landscapes with trees and mountains. His photos are in black and white which is a nice touch to the photos. A painting that reminds me of his work is “The Oxbow” by Thomas Cole.

He felt as if clicking the shutter wasn’t enough to make an image so he spent countless hours in the darkroom always trying to make the “perfect” print.
